My name is Dan, and I am currently in my second year of a joint honours undergraduate degree in Economics and Business at the University of Edinburgh. Before university, I attended King’s College School, Wimbledon, where I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) with a score of 42 out of 45. My Higher Level subjects were Philosophy, English, and Music, and my Standard Level subjects were Latin, Mathematics, and Physics.
At King’s, I also completed 12 GCSEs, achieving six grade 8s and six grade 9s. Academic success didn’t always come naturally to me, and throughout my school career I worked with many excellent tutors who helped me enormously. This experience gives me a unique perspective: I am a success story who knows first-hand what works and what doesn’t. Over the years, I have built up a large toolkit of tutoring techniques, approaches, and methods that I have learnt from my own tutors.
Latin is my particular strength as a tutor, and I have prior experience teaching it to students of varying levels. In addition, I have taught conversational English to Russian speakers, further broadening my teaching skills and adaptability. I also spend my summers working at a creative filmmaking summer camp, which has given me valuable experience working with children of all ages.
I understand the tutoring market is saturated for subjects like Maths and Physics, so I would like to highlight my strengths in more niche areas such as Latin, Philosophy, Music, Russian, and English whilst still being available to teach other subjects as well. Looking forward to meeting you all!

👨🎓
My name is Liam, and I am a 20-year-old student entering the final year of my Geography degree at Loughborough University. The first two years of my studying have enhanced skills that I have been developing throughout my education, which I aim to assist my own students in developing. Varying modules based on differing topics have advanced my ability to analyse and assess a range of texts, whilst developing further writing skills in the contexts of research and discussion. Furthermore, I have personally improved upon presentation and communication skills. During school, English was consistently one of my preferred subjects, and I remain a keen reader to this day. My desire to learn and improve allowed me to achieve a grade 7 at GCSE level in both English Language and Literature, before
gaining an A in my English Language and Literature A Level course. Outside of education, I strive to be active and have fun — I regularly go to the gym and love to get involved with various sports on campus, whilst I also have an avid interest in travel and experiencing different cultures around the world. My interest in teaching stems from my continuous enjoyment of education throughout my time at school and university — I know firsthand the influence of a great teacher and enjoyable lessons, and I would not be where I am today without being inspired by those who have taught me previously. Additionally, my experiences in sports leadership at school provided me with a passion for teaching and helping others. I am excited to apply my skills to the position of tutor, hoping to make a difference and inspire others!
